Yesterday at the AHATS WOA, I Saw a Sunset

Sunset_45238.jpg

Last night, I saw the sunset at the AHATS Wildlife Observation Area. It had been awhile since my last visit. It was nearly 60F.

There is still some deep snow around but most of the bridge was clear.  I saw a number of birds:  black-capped chickadee, American crow, mallards, Canada geese, both a male and female northern harrier, heard a red-tailed hawk, some gulls (probably ring-billed), couple downy woodpeckers, heard a pileated and a great blue heron flew by.

Yesterday Near the AHATS WOA, I Saw One Less Squirrel

The parking lot at the Arden Hills Army Training Site Wildlife Observation Area was cleared on Friday!

I didn't make it out with my snowshoes yet but I did notice I have one less squirrel in my backyard.

(I saw a bald eagle in a tree near the WOA on Saturday.)

Yesterday Near the TCAAP WVA, I Saw a Fiery Tree and Prairie

The land around the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area was covered in hoar frost yesterday.

Here are a few of my favorite shots.

Yesterday at the TCAAP WVA, I Saw Osprey Practicing

I got a rare chance to get behind the fence near near the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area this weekend. I spent a couple hours watching the osprey nest on the south side of Marsden Lake. They have two young that are almost ready to fledge. This anxious youngster in the photo to the right briefly got airborne while it was practicing.

Dad brought dinner.

Yesterday at the TCAAP WVA, I saw Sun Rays and Shadows

Yesterday, I went to the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area twice, sunrise and sunset. I haven't seen much wildlife there in a while but I did see some geese and a few other birds.

Yesterday at the TCAAP WVA, I saw Geese Flyover

Last night, I was out at the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area experimenting with flash during the sunset when these geese flew over. I had the 10-24mm ultra wide lens on when these geese decided to fly over me.

I made a shot of these trees last week in the early morning fog at the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area. Here is an evening shot.  I think I like the fog shot better.

Yesterday at the TCAAP WVA, I saw the Harvest Moon

Didn't get out to the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area tonight because I was shooting hummingbirds at my feeder with my new Nikon SB-700 Speedlight.

Here is a shot of the moon from last night. If you look closely, you can see a couple great egrets flying over the moon.
