Today at the AHATS WOA, I Saw Sunrise

I trudged out to the Arden Hills Army Training Site Wildlife Observation Area this morning. It was about 3F with a 5-10mph wind. Cold. The snow was pretty deep and the hard-ish crust made it tricky to navigate on the snowshoes.

I heard a bunch of chickadees, saw one downy/hairy woodpecker and a half a dozen crows. No animal tracks within the observation area.

Here is an HDR of the sunrise.

Previously near the AHATS Wildlife Observation Area, I Saw Fog

I got up for sunrise on Sunday and saw some fog on my way to the AHATS Wildlife Observation Area. I decided to pull over and get some landscape shots before I got to the WVA. This black and white one is my favorite of that morning.

Today at the TCAAP WVA, I Saw Clouds

I saw a lot more than clouds today at the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area. After work, I stopped by with the 50mm lens and the D4 because the clouds were looking pretty cool. We had short burst of snow here and there.

Clouds make for great black and white images, in my opinion so I focused on that in my minds eye.

After a few minutes, I noticed fast movement on the ice between the cattails. Within a few seconds, I determined it was a coyote running hard. There was a second one either following or chasing it. They ran all the way across the lake, by "the tree" and onto the road. They didn't stop for nothing. A few minutes later, I saw another coyote follow the trail of the previous two through the cattails but it didn't cross the frozen lake. I'm kind of bummed I didn't have the big glass but it was still fun watching them.

Today at the TCAAP WVA, I Saw Curves in Snow

I stopped by the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area after work today to try out my new/used 20mm f2.8 lens. I was laying down in the snows for this shot on the right.

Yesterday Near the TCAAP WVA, I Saw a Fiery Tree and Prairie

The land around the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area was covered in hoar frost yesterday.

Here are a few of my favorite shots.

Today Near the TCAAP WVA, I Saw Curves and Trees

It was mildly interesting near the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area today. The morning light was great so I did some landscapes. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Once again, I forgot to shoot the old Zenobia 120 film camera.

One thing that sucks about winter is the shorter days. I'm off to work when the sun is just coming up and don't get home until after the sun sets.

I saw a couple turkeys fly down from their nightly roost this morning at the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area. I also saw a pair of trumpeter swans, some mallards a gaggle of Canada geese and some blue jays.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Today at the TCAAP WVA, I Saw the Bridge and Grass and Clouds

I only had a few minutes to stop by the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area today. I made a few clicks with the 50mm f1.4. I like this one best.

Today Near the TCAAP WVA, I Saw the Water Tower

The clouds were really neat while I was near the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area tonight. I kept a sharp eye out on the light but got caught off guard when the sun peaked through and lit everything up with this brilliant rose colored light. I've been meaning to get up close to the water tower with the ultra wide lens so I high-tailed up there as quickly and safely as I could. I managed to get about 10 minutes of shooting before the light faded.

...and I didn't forget monochrome once the color faded:

Here is a sunrise shot of the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area from the other side of Lake Marsden. The sun just started lighting up the grass in the foreground before hitting the fog.
