The sumac at the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area are turning for fall right now. Some are all red, some are yellow and this one is half green and half maroon.

Today Near the TCAAP WVA, I Saw Raccoons
I parked on the road near some bird activity for about an hour today near the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area. I saw a lot of interesting birds. These three raccoons walked across the road without a care. I don't think they noticed me until this one looked up after they crossed the road.

Previously at the TCAAP WVA, I Saw 5 Cygnets
Exactly four years ago today, I made this photo of a swan family with five cygnets. Since then, I haven't seen as many cygnets successfully raised at the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area. I guess it's pretty dangerous around there with the river otters, coyotes and raptors all over the place. Everybody has to eat.

Today Near the TCAAP WVA, I Saw a Swan Take-off
I heard the swan take off from across the way and heard the geese making their typical commotion so I drove over to watch. By the time I got there, the swan had landed again so I parked and watched for a while. Within a few minutes, the swan got nervous and took off again. I got a series of 8-10 shots and this one was the best.

Today at the TCAAP WVA, I Saw Columns of Bugs
For a minute, I thought the marsh at the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area was on fire. It appeared smoke was rising in columns all over the place. Turns out it was bugs. I'm not sure what kind of bugs they are but it was cool watching the columns rise, undulate and fall.

Today Near the TCAAP WVA, I Saw the Water Tower
The clouds were really neat while I was near the TCAAP Wildlife Viewing Area tonight. I kept a sharp eye out on the light but got caught off guard when the sun peaked through and lit everything up with this brilliant rose colored light. I've been meaning to get up close to the water tower with the ultra wide lens so I high-tailed up there as quickly and safely as I could. I managed to get about 10 minutes of shooting before the light faded.
...and I didn't forget monochrome once the color faded:

Today Near the TCAAP WVA, I Saw Finches
I'm not a huge fan of finches, either house or gold ones but tonight the light was great so I parked and waited. I ended seeing a couple clay-colored sparrows with the group of finches but didn't get a decent shot of those.
